[Piwik-hackers] 777 rights: why?

Hi,

 

I was wondering exactly what dirs/files need 777 rights and why. It
seems a bit too much/open to make the main PiWik dir 777.

 

I already installed PiWik with 777 rights. It installed just fine.  And
now I changed the rights back, and I get this message:

 

Piwik couldn't write to some directories.

Try to Execute the following commands on your Linux server:

chmod 777 /piwik/html
chmod 777 /piwik/html/config

 

I don't understand why PiWik wants to write anything to the server since
I already configured everything correctly.
