Comment:

 I believe Download Tracking should be implemented server side. If outbound
 link tracking is enabled then you can process the URLs later for file
 extensions or custom mask,s such as '/download.php?file_id='.

 I believe I can have a prototype for outbound link tracking early in
 February.
